Registration of every public charitable or religious trust is compulsory, and a charitable society is automatically also a public trust, needing both registrations.
Registration under the Gujarat Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2019 runs online through the eNagar portal. Separately, a trade licence for specified activities is granted under section 376 of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, 1949 by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, and an ordinary office is often outside that closed list.
