Which clocks run once a Mumbai rename starts?
A name change is a chain of windows, and each one closes on its own schedule. These are the timings that matter:
- RUN, the reservation application for the new name, is usually decided within 1 to 2 working days.
- An approved name stays reserved for 20 days, and the board meeting and the EGM must both fit inside that window.
- Once shareholders pass the special resolution, MGT-14 goes in, followed by INC-24 with the supporting papers.
- After INC-24 is filed, registrar approval typically takes another 5 to 7 working days.

Where does your INC-24 actually land?
Since 16 February 2026 the answer is one of two offices. ROC Mumbai-I at Mumbai covers companies whose registered office sits in the districts of Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban, which together are exactly the BMC area. ROC Mumbai-II at Navi Mumbai covers the districts of Aurangabad (now Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Nashik, Palghar, Raigad and Thane. The two seat structure comes from MCA notification S.O. 4850(E) dated 23 October 2025 (commencement substituted by S.O. 6112(E)). The practical test stays simple: inside Greater Mumbai you file with the first registrar, and from Thane, Vasai Virar or Panvel you file with the second. Every form in the chain still moves through the MCA V3 portal, so the split changes who reads your file, not how you submit it.
