A Delhi NCR manufacturer without Udyam registration cannot access the Credit Guarantee Fund's collateral free loans, cannot claim statutory delayed payment protection, and gets shut out of tenders reserved for registered MSMEs. None of that changes whether the business sits in Okhla or in Noida Film City, since the registration itself runs on one national portal regardless of state. Getting registered fixes all three problems in a single filing, and usually within 1 to 2 days.
Does your business actually need Udyam registration, or does something lighter cover you?
Any manufacturing or service enterprise in India, including every part of Delhi NCR, qualifies for Udyam registration once its investment and turnover fall within the micro, small or medium bands. A trading unit near Okhla, a production house working out of Noida Film City, a proprietorship, a partnership or a private limited company can all apply. There is no lighter alternative once you want access to priority lending, tender preference or delayed payment protection; the old Udyog Aadhaar system was retired years ago, and only a live Udyam number unlocks these benefits today. As of 2026, classification itself runs on investment and turnover together, not on either figure alone. A micro enterprise stays under roughly ₹1 crore invested and ₹5 crore in turnover. A small enterprise stretches to ₹10 crore invested and ₹50 crore in turnover, and a medium enterprise goes up to ₹50 crore invested and ₹250 crore in turnover. Both limits apply together, so your enterprise sits in whichever band fits both figures, regardless of which of the three states in this region your registered address happens to sit in. If you never plan to borrow, bid on a tender or rely on the payment protection, you can technically operate without registering, but almost every growing business ends up needing at least one of those three eventually. Wherever your unit is based, what should be in hand before you file?
Udyam registration itself needs almost nothing on paper:
- An Aadhaar number linked to a working mobile, for OTP verification
- Your PAN, matched exactly to government records
- Basic details on investment, turnover and the NIC activity code for your business
What differs by state is the complementary local registration your business may separately need.
| Location | Complementary Local Registration | GST State Code |
|---|---|---|
| Okhla, Delhi | Municipal Corporation of Delhi trade licence, if your activity is on its notified list | 07 |
| Noida Film City, Uttar Pradesh | Noida Authority premises approval, not a Nagar Nigam | 09 |
| Either location | Udyam registration itself, the same one central portal | Not applicable, Udyam carries no state code |
How does the Udyam filing actually run, step by step?
- We collect your Aadhaar, PAN and basic business details in one short call.
- We select the correct NIC activity code so your certificate reflects what your business actually does.
- We file on the Udyam Registration portal, entering your investment and turnover figures accurately.
- Your details auto verify against CBDT and GST databases without any document upload.
- Your Udyam Registration Certificate and number are ready to download the same day, in most cases.
Occasionally the portal flags a mismatch, usually a PAN entered with a slightly different name spelling than the one on record, or an Aadhaar linked mobile number that has since changed. Either issue stalls verification until it is corrected, so we double check both details before we submit rather than after the portal rejects them.
Which authority holds your file in Delhi or in Uttar Pradesh, and what can it ask you for later?
Udyam registration itself sits with the central Ministry of MSME, not with any Delhi NCR authority, so no state office reviews or holds this particular file. What each state can ask for separately is different. A unit in Okhla may later need a Municipal Corporation of Delhi trade licence if it carries out a notified trade activity on site, quite apart from its Udyam status. A unit in Noida Film City may instead need Noida Authority approval for its premises, because it is the Authority, not any elected Nagar Nigam, that governs that ground, unlike Ghaziabad next door. Keep both registrations current independently; an Udyam certificate does not substitute for either one.
What does Udyam registration cost, and does that figure ever change?
Our service starts at ₹499, and the Udyam portal itself does not add a separate government fee on top, since registration is self certified and free to file directly. Your certificate does not expire and never needs a renewal, though you must update it if your turnover or investment crosses into a higher category, and we recommend a yearly figure check for exactly that reason. Neither Delhi nor Uttar Pradesh charges professional tax on top of any of this, so the recurring cost of holding Udyam status stays close to nothing beyond keeping your figures and NIC code current.
Who in Delhi or Uttar Pradesh is asking about MSME registration right now?
Two very different businesses ask us about Udyam in the same week, and both usually assume the process will be more complicated than it actually turns out to be.
- An export oriented manufacturer or trader based around Okhla, Delhi, wanting Udyam status to strengthen an upcoming bank loan application.
- A media and production house in Noida Film City registering for the first time to bid on a tender that requires MSME status.
