Key requirements for choosing a valid LLP name in India
Must end with "LLP"
Every LLP registered in India must have "LLP" at the end of its name. This distinguishes it from private limited companies and partnerships.
Name must be unique
The proposed name must not be identical or too similar to any existing company, LLP, or trademark. MCA checks phonetic similarity.
Minimum 2 designated partners
An LLP must have at least 2 designated partners (natural persons). At least one must be resident in India. DPIN required for each.
No prohibited words
Words like "National", "Union", "Government", "Bank" (without RBI approval), "Insurance" (without IRDAI approval) are prohibited.
No entity suffix confusion
An LLP name cannot contain "Private Limited", "Pvt Ltd", "Limited", "Inc.", "PLC" or any other entity suffix other than "LLP".
Prestige words require conditions
"International", "Global", "India", "Bharat" require demonstrated multi-country or pan-India operations and higher capital.
